The Prism Concert is next week! I hope you are looking forward to one of our biggest performances of the year! We are in need of help decorating the auditorium. We will be decorating the auditorium on Saturday, December 5. We will start at 10:00 AM, please come help out! We are in need of the following items: Buffalo bagged snow, Canned snow, Warm white lights, Net style warm white lights, Gorilla brand black duct tape.
Please review concert uniform information in the band handbook and be making plans now to secure necessary materials for concert uniforms. If you are unsure of something about your uniform, please bring it in and show it to Mr. Hall.
This week’s schedule is as follows: Tuesday: 2:15-3:00 Prism Concert Sectional. 3:00-4:15 Symphonic Band Rehearsal. Thursday: 2:15-3:30 Parade rehearsal. 3:30-4:00 Prism Concert Sectional.
Uniforms will be back this week. We are in need of help reassembling the marching uniforms for Saturday’s performance. The band will be performing at the Festival of Lights Parade at the Civic Center on Saturday, December 5. We will be handing out candy canes as the band marches during the parade. If you are able to donate candy canes, please send them in to the band office. We will also be selling Prism Concert Tickets at the Festival of Lights during the day. If you are able to help sell tickets, please contact Amanda Hayes-Tolentino at (850) 206-5830. If you are interested in chaperoning the parade please contact Candy Kiernan at (772) 708-7004. The itinerary is as follows:

- 4:45 PM-Depart TCHS
- 5:00 PM-Arrive at Civic Center
- 5:30 PM-Sectional
- 6:00 PM-Ensemble Warm-up
- 6:30 PM-Transition to Parade Block
- 7:00 PM-Step off
- 8:00 PM-Load Equipment
- 8:15 PM-Depart Civic Center
- 8:30 PM-Return to TCHS
- 9:30 PM-Dismissal
Students performing additional solos and ensembles at the FBA Solo and Ensemble need to begin securing their piano accompanist (if needed) now. Names and contact information for pianists are posted in the band room. Students performing at S&E need to play their solo or ensemble for Mr. Hall by Friday, December 11. Guard members need to submit their music by this date and need to perform their routine for review by Friday, December 11. Please remember that the FBA allows a maximum of four entries per student at S&E.
Next week’s schedule is as follows:
Tuesday, December 8 Dress Rehearsal 6:00-9:00 PM. Students are to wear their concert uniforms for the rehearsal. Report time is 5:30 PM and attendance is at 5:50 PM. Students are to be seated in their designated areas in the auditorium for the dress rehearsal.
Thursday, December 10 Prism Concert 1. Report time 5:45. Attendance time is 6:00. Students are to be in their designated areas backstage at 6:00. The show will start at 7:00 PM.
Friday, December 11 Prism Concert 2. Report time 5:45. Attendance time is 6:00. Students are to be in their designated areas backstage at 6:00. The show will start at 7:00 PM.
Please remember that we will be taking band pictures during class on Tuesday and Wednesday December 15 and 16.
The next booster meeting is December 3 at 7:00 PM. Booster meetings are in the TCHS Band Room. We will be finalizing the Prism Concert, Festival of Lights Parade, Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade, begin discussing Jazz MPA, Marching uniforms for 2016-7, and the 2017 band trip. All parents are invited to attend!
We are in need of volunteers to help out on the following dates:

Midterm Exams will begin being recorded next week. Midterms are as follows: Concert Band: G,C,F,Bb,Eb,Ab,Db scales in 2 minutes. A two octave chromatic scale separate from the two minutes. Symphonic Band: F,Bb,Eb,Ab scales in 2 minutes. A two octave chromatic scale separate from the two minutes. Symphonic Winds. Students will select one exercise from the F and the Bb scale pages in their method book. Students will then play one exercise from these four pages as it is called for the exam. Colorguard: Perform your solo routine to your edited music. Percussion Class will take the exam for the band they are assigned to. Jazz Band: perform excerpts from their concert music. Please remember that 50% of the midterm grade is performing the Prism Concert section ensemble, memorized. Choir: perform excerpts from concert music with attention paid especially to diction, phrasing, and dynamics.
