News for November 28

On Tuesday, November 29, we have sectional prism concert ensemble rehearsals from 2:30-3:30 for all sections and Symphonic Band rehearsal from 3:30-4:30 PM.

On Thursday, December 1 we have our rehearsal for the Festival Of Lights Parade from 2:30-5:00 PM

On Friday, December 2 we have the senior dinner.  We are in need of senior parents to help with this event.  Seniors in good standing will be given information regarding the senior dinner on Monday, November 28.

On Saturday, December 3 we are decorating the auditorium from 9-3.  From 12:00 – 3:00 we will be having our December Marching Band party.  We will be performing in the Festival Of Lights Parade that evening.  The itinerary for the parade is as follows:
Report time:  3:15 PM
Attendance time:  3:30 PM
Load buses:  4:15 PM
Depart TCHS:  4:30 PM
Arrive at Civic Center:  4:45 PM
Parade Step-off:  6:00 PM
Load buses:  7:00 PM
Return to TCHS:  7:20 PM
Dismissal:  8:15 PM

All returning band members need to take a picture of themselves in their concert uniform and show it to Mr. Hall by Monday, December 5.  All new members, choir members, and freshmen band members need to bring in their uniform and show it to Mr. Hall by Monday, December 5.  Please review the handbook for uniform information.  Please remember that all forms must be turned in to be able to perform.

On Tuesday, December 6 we have Prism Concert Section rehearsals for the whole band from 2:30 – 4:00.

On Thursday, December 8 we have the dress rehearsal for the Prism Concert for all band and chorus members from 2:30 – 5:30 PM.

On Friday, December 9 there is a performance of the Prism Concert during the school day from 10:15-12:15 for elementary school and middle school students.  The evening performance is at 7:00 PM.  Student report time is 5:45 PM for the concert and attendance time is 6:00 PM.

On Saturday, December 10 there is a 2:00 PM performance of the Prism Concert.  Report time is 12:45 and attendance time is 1:00 PM.  For the evening performance at 7:00 report time is 5:45 PM and attendance is 6:00 PM.

Solo and ensemble information needs to be given to Mr. Hall by Tuesday, December 13.  Entries that require piano players must have the accompanist listed.  Accompanists and their contact information are listed on the board in the band room.

Students will perform their midterms during the week of December 12-16.  Midterm assignments are below:

Jazz Band:  A 12 bar improvised solo in the key of Bb, excerpts from music and G,C,F,Bb,Eb,Ab, and the Db major scales in addition to a two octave chromatic scale.

Concert Band:  
G,C,F,Bb,Eb,Ab,Db major scales and a two octave chromatic scale.  Students will also play their solo and ensemble music for Mr. Hall at this time.

Symphonic Band:  
F,Bb,Eb,Ab major scales and a two octave chromatic scale.  Students performing a solo and solo and ensemble should play their solo and ensemble music for Mr. Hall at this time.

Symphonic Winds:  
Bb, and Eb major scales.   Students performing a solo and solo and ensemble should play their solo and ensemble music for Mr. Hall at this time.

Guard:  
Perform their solo and ensemble routine for Mr. Hall at this time

Percussion Ensemble:  
Perform solo and ensemble music for Mr. Hall at this time. 

Chorus:  
Excerpts from the winter concert music and written and vocal exercises from the first seven units of the Essential Voice (the big book) book, volume 1.

November and December News

News for November/December:
On Monday, November 21 Poinsettias will be delivered for students to pick up.  Students may pick up poinsettias between 1:41 and 4:00 on Monday.

Parents who are interested in chaperoning the trip to Washington, DC need to e-mail Mr. Hall at luke.hall@stlucieschools.org by Tuesday, November 22.

News for this week

News this week:

Tomorrow afterschool all brass sections and the percussion section have Prism Concert section practice from 2:30-4:00.  On Thursday all woodwind sections and the color guard have Prism Concert section practice.  This will be the same schedule for next week.

Tomorrow evening from 5:30-7:30 the Symphonic Band will be reading music for middle school band directors.  Please wear your polo shirt.  Students should arrive between 4:45 and 5:00.  Please wear your band polo. 

If you have a program ad to turn in it must be submitted no later than 7:33 tomorrow morning.  Half of the poinsettias have already been sold.  There are only 300 remaining to sell.  Please remember that these two fundraisers can be applied towards students’ band fee and spring trip. 

Prism Concert tickets are now being sold.  Posters are also available to be posted, if you’d like to have a poster to put up, please see Mr. Hall. 

Please check Charms and make sure all your information and all your band fee/fundraising information is correct.  If it isn’t please let Mr. Hall know.

Payment 2 for the DC trip is due next week.  Please check your account with P.A.C.E. Travel and make sure that all the information is correct.  Chaperone information for the DC trip will be sent out Friday. 

​Tuesday, November 15 there is a booster meeting at 6:00 PM.  We will also be hosting a step-up night for students to try out professional instruments and mouthpieces that same night from 6:00-8:00.  We will have over 100 professional model instruments in the band room for students to try out.  There will also be a masterclass with the world renowned Jody Osborne from JodyJazz.

4:15 PM – Eat dinner.  Once you have finished eating you need to go get changed

6:30 PM – Be in concert arcs, ready to go (you should probably start moving to concert arcs at 6:25)

6:55 PM – Star Spangled Banner
7:00 PM – Kick-off
7:55 PM (approx.) - Halftime.
  • The guard and pit will leave the stands when the clock hits 7:30 to warm-up
  • The rest of the band will leave the stands when the clock hits 6:00
  • We will warm-up in concert arcs and then move to opening set
  • When the clock is at 2:00 we will transition to the field
8:10 PM (approx.) – 3rd quarter break
8:30 PM (approx.) – the pit will load their equipment onto the truck
9:00 PM (approx.) – The game ends and the band plays the Fight Song and Alma Mater
9:20 PM (approx.) – Depart South County
9:50 PM (approx.) – arrive at TCHS/unload
  • Uniforms will be CAREFULLY placed on seats in auditorium. Hangers will be placed on seats and hats will be in hat boxes neatly in front of each seat.
  • Equipment will be quickly put away in the band room

News for this week:
 
Marching MPA is Saturday, November 5.  The itinerary for the day is available on the website.  On Thursday, November 3 we have marching practice and a football game.  The band will be fed dinner prior to the start of the game.  On Friday, November 4 the Jazz Band will be performing at the Sunrise Theatre’s Black Box with the jazz quintet 21 Blue. 
 
4-County Honor Band Nomination Forms are due to Mr. Hall by the end of the day Friday.  Please make sure to staple the application fee to the nomination form. 
 
Prism Concert small ensembles need to be submitted to Mr. Hall by November 11.  Students in 1st and 4th hour need to have their solos for solo and ensemble handed in or e-mailed to Mr. Hall by Friday, November 4.  All other students should have their solo and ensemble information submitted by Thursday, November 10. 
 
Next week we begin preparations for the Prism Concert and our after school rehearsal schedule changes.  The Trumpet, Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba and Percussion sections will come in on Tuesdays from 2:30 – 4:00 PM.  On Thursdays the Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone and Color Guard sections will come in from 2:30 – 4:00 PM.  On November 29 all sections will come in as we have a rehearsal for the Festival of Lights Parade on December 1.
 
The senior dinner is on December 2.  Information will be provided soon.
 
Prism Concert tickets are now on sale as are poinsettias.  Program ads are due by November 7.  Please check charms for band fee information.  The next payment for the DC trip is due on November 15.

2:00 – Arrive at JBHS/Offload and enter stands to observe bands
2:30 – National Anthem
5:00 – Dinner at the JBHS Concession Stand
6:00 – Transition to the south gate in order to return to the buses and get equipment/put on jackets
6:05 – Transition to buses to get dressed/prepare for warm-up
6:45 – Begin making concert arcs
6:50 – Transition to warm-up
7:05 – Warm-up in Warm-up Area #2
7:35 – Transition to Gate
7:45 – At Gate
