Here is a quick clarification about our band offerings next year after hearing some confusion. If you have any additional questions, please contact Mr. Hall via e-mail: Luke.Hall@stlucieschools.org or by phone (772) 807-4300.
Concert Band-By audition only. Students will state before their exam that they are auditioning for the Concert Band. This ensemble plays advanced literature. Percussionists in this ensemble are in the class for this ensemble. After school rehearsals are primarily sectionals. All members of this band are in the marching band.
Symphonic Band I-All 10th-12th graders who are in band that ARE NOT in the concert band are in the Symphonic Band. The Symphonic Band plays appropriate literature to their level, typically grade 3-4 music (much like the music performed at MPA this year). This band meets one day a week after school like it has this year and last year. Students in the Concert Band who wish to play a secondary instrument may enroll in this band. All members of this band are in the marching band.
Symphonic Band II/Freshman Band-All incoming freshmen band students are in this band. There is no audition to be in this ensemble. Students in the Symphonic and Concert Bands who wish to play a secondary instrument may enroll in this band. All members of this band are in the marching band.
Percussion Ensemble-All percussionists are in this ensemble. Percussionists meet with their bands after school. Any student wishing to play percussion may join this class in addition to their other ensemble as long as they have the required sticks. All members of this ensemble are in the marching band.
Jazz Band-The Jazz Band is open to any student currently enrolled, or planning to be enrolled in a traditional band (Band I-VI) or in percussion ensemble. All students in 9th-12th grade are able to audition for the Jazz Band. Students in the Jazz Band take this class in addition to their other band class.
Colorguard-All members of this class are enrolled in Eurhythmics I-IV. The colorguard is by audition only.
